'Extensively illustrated and full of eyecatching contemporary detail, Glimpses of the Wonderful is a masterpiece of Victorian biography. I wanted to like this book because I thought the characters were believable (which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1). It really took me back to my teenage days of looking forward to reading the comic page of the newspaper every day.
