It can be a little confusing if you don't pay attention to the chapter title, but I gather this transitioning assists the author in fleshing out the main characters, especially psychos like Alex. You care so much about the central character, care so much about the dogs he gathers around him, and the ending is wonderful. I am giving this book a 4 out of 5. I has some frustration with the author moving back and forth in time periods. I remember this book from when I was a kid back in the 80's. Eric Laster is a talent. Likewise those "sausages" were heavily defended by AAA sites and supporting fighters. I think much of the book seems to be what could be obtained from the reports or overviews from the internet or other sources. It too was set before the Boer War, with Raffles in his heyday as a gentlemen thief. The illustrations are simple, but colorful. A winning novel that is sure to make you laugh, cry and nod in recognition as all the best books do.
